How to open multiple links at once on iPhone and iPad in Safari

David Hruts · · 4 min read

To open multiple links at once on iPhone or iPad, turn on the MultiOpen extension in Safari, paste your list into it, tap Add URL, then Open all. Every link opens in its own Safari tab.

Turn on MultiOpen once

Install MultiOpen from the App Store. Safari asks you to switch extensions on yourself. You do it once, and it takes about a minute. The app shows the same steps.

  1. Open the MultiOpen app and tap Open Settings
  2. Tap Apps, then Safari
  3. Tap Extensions, then MultiOpen
  4. Turn on Allow Extension
  5. Tap All Websites and choose Allow
  6. In Safari, tap the page menu next to the address, then MultiOpen

On iOS 17 and earlier, Settings has no Apps item. Then step 2 is: Tap Safari.

If you skip step 5, Safari asks for access on each site the first time. Allow it, or the MultiOpen window won't open.

Paste your list and open it

  1. Copy your links. One per line works, and so do links separated by commas or spaces.
  2. In Safari, tap the page menu next to the address, then MultiOpen.
  3. Tap Paste. The text you copied goes into the field at the top.
  4. Tap Add URL. MultiOpen finds the links and moves them into the list below.
  5. Check the list. Tap the red cross on a row to remove a link you don't want.
  6. Tap Open all. Each link opens as its own Safari tab.

Done with a list? Clear all empties it. If you tap it by mistake, Undo brings the links back.

What happens after you tap Open all

A short list opens right away. A long list opens in waves. The first 20 tabs open right away, and the rest follow in waves of 20, a moment apart.

For 50 or 100 links, choose how the tabs load under Opening. When viewed loads each page only when you switch to its tab. One by one adds a pause between tabs. The guide Open 100+ links without freezing Safari explains each option.

Your list is auto-saved. Close the window, come back tomorrow, and the links are still there.

Other ways to fill the list

Pasting a clean list is the most common start. You can also begin with:

On iPad

The steps are the same on iPad. The MultiOpen window is bigger there, with two columns, so the field and the list sit side by side.

What it costs

Every feature is free for 7 days. After that, MultiOpen costs $0.99 a year or $2.99 once. One purchase covers iPhone, iPad and Mac, and the App Store privacy label says Data Not Collected. See pricing.

Open the same links often? After Add URL, tap Save set and name the list, for example Morning or Work. Next time, tap the Set and then Open all.

Questions

Do I have to tap Add URL before Open all?
Yes. Paste puts your text into the field. Add URL finds the links in it and moves them into the list. Open all then opens every link in the list.
Why doesn't the MultiOpen window open on some sites?
Safari needs your permission for each site. In Settings, go to Apps, Safari, Extensions, MultiOpen and set All Websites to Allow. Or allow access when Safari asks.
Which iPhone and iPad versions does MultiOpen support?
MultiOpen needs iOS 16.4 or iPadOS 16.4 or later, with Safari.
